Sleeve Gastrectomy
The vertical sleeve gastrectomy, also known as gastric sleeve surgery, reduces the stomach’s size to limit food intake. This minimally invasive procedure, shaping the stomach to resemble a banana, helps patients feel full with smaller meals. It decreases the “hunger hormone” ghrelin, reducing hunger and benefiting blood sugar levels in type II diabetes. Compared to gastric bypass or gastric banding, it avoids implanted devices or complex intestinal rearrangement. While enabling diverse food intake post-recovery.
Gastric Bypass
The procedure involves stapling off a portion of the stomach, creating a small pouch connected directly to the small intestine. This restricts food intake and alters nutrient absorption, leading to weight loss.
Re Sleeve
In some cases, a sleeve doesn’t lead to the expected results for a certain number reasons, either because the removed part of the stomach was insufficient or because the remaining part has dilated. The procedure can be corrected in a second stage by performing a new sleeve gastrectomy of the previous sleeve – or ReSleeve.
